The International Symposium of the Category 2 Institutes and Centers under the auspices of UNESCO in the field of Natural Sciences was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 15 to 17 May 2024. This meeting was organized by International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation under the Auspices of UNESCO (ISTIC). The primary objectives of the symposium were to create a platform for enhanced coordination and collaboration among Category 2 Centers, fostering knowledge exchange and promoting shared goals while inspiring collective action. This is worth mentioning that the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2024 – 2033 as the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development. This international symposium was in line with the spirit of the decade, which is a call for the mobilization of global science efforts to achieve sustainable development and use science to respond to the complex challenges of our time and ensure a safe and prosperous future for all. RCECWA sent a video to this meeting and introduced the main missions and activities of the Center and the main areas for collaborations on disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM). The video was demonstrated on May 16 in the symposium and some feedbacks were received to be followed up by the Center.
